Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center is a brand-new facility located on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus. Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center is a unique innovation center with dormitories for 374 students. Residents at Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center must be enrolled at one the 10 UH campuses and be interested in creativity, collaboration, innovation or entrepreneurship.
Scholarship Opportunities
for RISE Residents
The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) invites UH students to join their leadership program called PACE Leaders. Student leaders who live at RISE are eligible for up to $6,000 in scholarships. These students have the unique opportunity to gain leadership and entrepreneurial skills as they work together to design and execute programs, events, and activities throughout the year. No experience in entrepreneurship or business is required. This program is open to all majors at all UH System campuses. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at pace.shidler.hawaii.edu/leaders.

Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center Student Housing is owned by an entity created by the University of Hawai'i Foundation, it was developed by Hunt Companies, and it is managed by B.HOM Student Living. It is not owned or managed by the University of Hawai'i. The University of Hawai'i Pacific Asian Center For Entrepreneurship (PACE) is located in a portion of the RISE project, separated from the RISE Student Housing.

It is as easy as clicking “Apply Now” above to get started! First, you will select your floor plan and any view or premium options available. If you are applying to live with roommates, make sure you all select the same floor plan. From there, click “Apply Now” to start your floor plan-specific application.
We look for applicants that demonstrate an interest in creativity, collaboration, innovation or entrepreneurship in their application. Residents must be admitted to any of the 10 University of Hawai‘i System campuses. If you are awaiting your admission acceptance, we strongly encourage you to apply to Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center. now and not wait until you are admitted so that we can begin your application review. Applicants must also meet our qualifying standards. All residents will undergo a background check and all guarantors will undergo a credit screening and must provide income verification.
In order to guarantee your bed space, we will need a signed lease agreement. Leases are generated once your application is complete, and your screening has been approved.
Most applications are approved within 24-72 hours.. Future residents must have a completed guarantor application on file in order to finalize their application. This is typically the part of the process that can take some extra time, so be sure that your guarantor is aware that he/she must complete their portion in order to move forward with the application process.
Most applicants require a guarantor to provide the income verification required to meet the income requirement and ensure you are able to make the monthly installment payments. If you do not have a guarantor, you can either try to self-qualify using your own income or apply to use a third-party guarantor service. Please contact the onsite team for information about our third-party guarantor service.
Note: We do not accept student loan documentation as income verification for self-qualifying applications.
Prospective and current students at any University of Hawaiʿi campus are welcome to apply. We rent to any applicant who meets our qualifying standards.

The new PACE Leaders program provides an opportunity for students to get engaged in the ecosystem, design entrepreneurial programming at UH, develop transferrable leadership skills, and receive scholarship support.
